Uh-oh Amma, hot ice cream
When I got home from work on Friday Leigha informed me that our heroine had expressed three new words in one day. The words were “uh oh”, “Anna” (sometimes “Amma”), and ice cream (I actually haven’t heard this clearly yet). Also, she has picked up the “sign” for “hot” from one of her sign language books. I say “sign” because there is no hand gesture, instead you blow short bursts of air as if to extinguish a birthday candle. I have seen this and it is cute.
Also, we are very encouraged that she is really starting to understand the things we say. She’ll follow simple commands like “Go get your binky” or “pick up these blocks”. I’ve also tried “made daddy pancakes” with less than perfect results.
Today we went to the playground and met a little boy from Nepal named Nishu and his mother. He’s a month older than Anna but his mother says he’s been walking since he was 10 months old which seems incredible since our tike just recently started but there was no doubt he was a champ on his feet. While at the playground Anna enjoyed going down a fairly big slide (for her anyway), and swinging in the baby swings.
On Monday we fly to Florida so we’ll see how well she behaves on the plane this time. When we return we’re sure to have lots of pictures (and videos) of Anna with the relatives.
