My Phantom Binkies and Sleepy Giggles

I’m not going to kid you, dear reader: some days are less than fabulous. Some days are a poop-smelling, spit-up-stained, hysterical-wailing, neverending frustration. But at the end of the day when the spit-up-stained clothes come off, the (poop-smelling) diaper changed and pajama’s donned (while hysterically wailing), the nighttime bottle is frantically presented to the boss. Then something changes. Her eyes get heavy and her chugging slows, her body visibly relaxes and she seems to get even heavier. Peacefully drifting away, the pacifier falls out of her mouth. Sometimes her brain forgets to inform her mouth and she’ll continue to tug at a phantom binky. Sometimes, when we’re lucky, she’ll let out a few sleepy giggles as she drifts away.

My Pukey Hair

I knew this was bound to happen some time, I guess I just wasn’t expecting it. Leigha wasn’t home, she was out running errands. Anna and I had just gotten back from a walk and she was being a little fussy, so I was playing with her to keep her happy. I did my little Anna benchpress and about the third time she went up, she puked on my head. Not a little either, the girl drew the prime meridian on me, front to back. At the risk of being too explicit, I’ll tell you that it was dripping down both my front and my back.

Well this is a pickle. I guess I have no choice but put her in her crib while I go clean up. I really should take a picture of this so Leigha can laugh at me.

I had put her down and was readying the camera when I heard the front door unlock. Leigha happily took Anna while I showered and burned my clothes, and by the time I got back to Anna’s room, she was all smiles and giggles. Unfortunately, Leigha talked me out of taking the picture. Despite her significantly more frequent encounters with this sort of thing, she didn’t think it was something people would want to see.

Eight month update

Anna in the TubThe month of October seemingly came and went with just enough time to put on a costume and hand out some candy. It’s been 47 days since the last update which is incredible if you think about it. 18% of her life, to date has occurred since the last post. So there’s a lot of catching up to do!

Since the last post Anna attended a wedding, spent a week with her grammy (and great grammy), visited her uncle in Oklahoma and seems to be showing more interest in moving. Leigha tells me that the other day she rolled over several times in a row in order to move towards something. Later the next night I had her on the kitchen island and she looked like she was scooting on her butt on purpose.

Her pitching arm is also getting better with all that practice she’s getting. Earlier she was playing in the exersaucer and she threw a toy onto the floor, then leaned over the edge of the exersaucer to see where it went.

Anna’s eczema is mostly under control and her skin looks great. Occasionally there is a flare up but those are few, brief, and far between. She is still taking pepcid for her acid reflux, except now she seems to like it. Whereas before she would spit it out, now she opens her mouth as one approaches with the syringe. She also had a mystery rash in her diaper area for the past couple of weeks but it is clearing up.

She is still a ham for the cameras, and we’ve uploaded some new pictures of her, but I haven’t had time to think about editing a new video.
