My Phantom Binkies and Sleepy Giggles
I’m not going to kid you, dear reader: some days are less than fabulous. Some days are a poop-smelling, spit-up-stained, hysterical-wailing, neverending frustration. But at the end of the day when the spit-up-stained clothes come off, the (poop-smelling) diaper changed and pajama’s donned (while hysterically wailing), the nighttime bottle is frantically presented to the boss. Then something changes. Her eyes get heavy and her chugging slows, her body visibly relaxes and she seems to get even heavier. Peacefully drifting away, the pacifier falls out of her mouth. Sometimes her brain forgets to inform her mouth and she’ll continue to tug at a phantom binky. Sometimes, when we’re lucky, she’ll let out a few sleepy giggles as she drifts away.
